Mercedes Lamborelle

Mercedes is a swiss peruvian video producer and  photographer whose work focuses on trade and development subjects. She has a good understanding on Sustainable Development Goals - SDGs.

In Switzerland she create IMAGES & PRODUCTIONS and she continue working with her audiovisual univers doing short films and documentaries. 

She is a creative Graphic and Jewellery Designer and works with women weavers designing and promoting textiles and accessories in alpaca fibres. Her brands AWANA Alpaca www.awanaalpaca.com  and ML JEWELS www.mercedeslamborelle.ch are commercialised in Switzerland. Her paintings and collages are inspired in her trips.

Mercedes attended the University of Lima and received a Licence Degree in Communication & Medias. Then she obtained a Master Degree in Communication  in  ITESO, a Guadalajara University in Mexico. In Switzerland she studied Langue et Civilisation Françaises in the Geneva University and worked in United Nations as a Communication Specialist and in e-Learning projects. Mercedes's work has been featured in international publications and media.

In Andean mythology, alpacas were considered a gift from the gods because they provided the Incas with food, clothing, and in the case of the llama, transportation to overcome the difficult and complicated Andean geography. Therefore, those who dedicated themselves to raising alpacas had the rank of noble. Now this profession can disappear. 

85% of alpacas from all over the world are found in Peru.
But knowing that the textile industry of the alpaca is in full international bloom, and that the alpaqueros are at the base of the pyramid of this great industry, the documentary propose a meeting and dialogue between all the actors in this productive chain so that know and protect alpacas, Peru's historical heritage and value their noble guardians.
